One Way Timeline

Whether we like it or not, we are on a one way timeline without "do overs" or a time machine.
The Story We Find Ourselves In:
1 - Creation: In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth!
2 - Crisis: When we broke our trust in God, everything broke.
3 - Calling: We are called to join God's story as the Crisis Response Team.
4 - Conversation: God establishes open communication with us.
5 - Christ: The center of the story who invites us into His world.
6 - Church: A movement bringing Christ's redemption to the world.
7 - ???: Is there more?
The Story We Find Ourselves In

Meaning 1: The recognition that there is a larger story within which we find ourselves.

Meaning 2: The recognition that we see ourselves in every chapter, and we see every chapter in us.

Meaning 3: The recognition that there are countless competing stories, but in all the other stories we end up losing ourselves.
“This story is the best one around. It has the truest news, the deepest views, the highest theme, the most inspiring dream, the plot most full of meaning and magic, vigor and rigor, startle and sparkle, emotion and motion… If you give it a fair hearing, I think you’ll agree.”

- Brian McLaren
Are there only 6 chapters?

It seems like there is something more.

Bono sings, "I still haven't found what I'm looking for."

C.S. Lewis says, “If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.”

Solomon says, "“God has set eternity in the hearts of men.”
7th Chapter: Celebration!
Knowing the future should change everything about how we live.

Bottom Line: Don't let your past push you into your future…Allow your future to pull you out of your past.

Father Greg Boyles

An amazing video by a Jesuit priest in L.A. named Greg Boyle who has easily done more than anyone else to reduce the number of gang members in L.A. by 25,000 over the past 20 years.
