Exploring the Supernatural Music of God’s Kingdom
THE ENVIRONMENTALISTS - Changing the Atmosphere Wherever You Are
TEXT: Ex 15:11 “Who is like You, LORD, among the gods” Who is like You, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises doing wonders?”
1. GOD’S PRESENCE CHANGES THE ATMOSPHERE
a. 2 Kings 3:15 “Bring me a musician, then it happened, when the musician played, that the hand of the Lord came upon him.”
b. Elisha is in need of attitude & atmosphere change
c. “Bring me a musician” – player of a stringed instrument
d. Atmosphere changes - the hand of God comes on Elisha
e. God chooses to move in response to musical praise & worship
2.CERTAIN MUSIC ATTRACTS GOD’S PRESENCE
a. Ps 100:2 “…come before His presence with singing”
b. Ps 22:3 “But You [are] holy, enthroned in the praises of Israel.” (NKJV)
“Tehillah” – a song/hymn of praise, adoration or thanksgiving paid to God
Ps 40:3 “He has put a new song in my mouth-praise (tehillah) to our God; Many will see [it] and fear, and will trust in the Lord.”
c. God is inseparably joined to this spontaneous, melodic praise! Where tehillah is God is; where God is tehillah is!
d. You are a thermostat not a thermometer
3.CHANGE YOUR ENVIRONMENT – EXPECT MIRACLES
a. 1 Sam 16:14-23 “Whenever the tormenting spirit…troubles Saul, David would play the harp. The Saul would feel better, and the tormenting spirit would go away.” (NLT)
b. God’s calling for kingdom musicians to be His power ministers
c. How can we create an environment for miracles?
Seek God’s presence
Why did Moses and David find favor with God? They were imperfect—failed, torn relationships and both committed murder
Their hearts were for God and His presence
d. Sing fresh spontaneous songs of tehillah
Ex 15:11 – “…fearful (dreaded and reverenced) in tehillah doing wonders”
Eph 5:18-19 “…be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs…” (NKJV)
1. “Spiritual Songs” (ode pnuematikos) – odes (songs) of the breath of God.
2. The Holy Spirit composes and gives you songs. He will inspire you to sing (just like prayer and prophecy)
ACTIVATION to Change the Environment:
1. Seek God’s Presence
2. Sing a Spontaneous Praise and Prayer
3. Wherever you go invoke the presence of God with spontaneous worship.
4. See if God’s presence will cause miraculous things to happen in your life.
