God, Why can't I catch a break?
How often do you feel like your plate is so full that you just can’t take it anymore? They say God will never give you more than you can handle, but does He have to give you all you can handle? It often feels like we just can’t catch a break! Join us this week as we take a look at how we can find a bit of reprieve in the midst of all the chaos.

God why can't I catch a break?
What does reverence for God look like in my life?
Our Spirituality is best done in the context of a loving set of relationships that give us permission to ask the tough questions. Today I’m going to ask some questions I want you to think and ponder and write. Ask question about how much time is dedicated to certain aspects of your life. What dominates your thinking? What demands your attention?
SHEMA: is found in Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and considered the most important confession in the Old Testament and in Judaism. Devout Jews confessed 3 times a day. Shame is taken from the text and simply means "listen" or "take heed". It's defining influence extended through the New Testament to each one of us when Jesus confirms this absolute truth in Mark 12.

HEART: Experience/Affections: Go back and listen to Connie’s message from Draw the Well on Transparency. Look at how you begin a better prayer life. Become committed to a smaller community of people here in Awaken through Group Life. Try to love God through the various aspects of your life rather than allowing them to become disassociated from your love of God; that is, see your work, play, and family as part of God’s calling for your life.
Jonathon Edwards: I am bold in saying this, but I believe that no one is ever changed, either by doctrine, by hearing the Word, or by the preaching or teaching of another, unless the affections are moved by these things. No one ever seeks salvation, no one ever cries for wisdom, no one ever wrestles with God, no one ever kneels in prayer or flees from sin, with a heart that remains unaffected. In a word, there is never any great achievement by the things of religion without a heart deeply affected by those things.
Awaken Community Groups
Our Raising Up Rhythm is all about living within the Community of Awaken. It is through Community that we raise and grow to our fullest potential as we follow Jesus together! Look in the program and join a group today!
http://www.awakenvirginiabeach.com/groups/MIND: How many of us live with the authority of scripture in our lives? How are we to keep our minds sharp towards God if we don’t give ourselves to the scriptures during the week? Can we go back and read the scriptures that are talked about here? Can we listen again to the podcast and journal out my thoughts? Can I meet with a couple others and talk about what God is challenging me with? Take a look at some of the books we have on the tables in the lobby. Read some of the theological greats. Tozer, Yancy, Spurgeon.
ACTIONS: Risk being led by God’s Spirit into new things—things that will challenge you and draw you out of your comfort zones. This means there will be times when you don’t know what you are doing. Do my actions currently show a pursuit of a Holy God? Become committed with a smaller community of people here determined to follow God.
