I. We can celebrate the mastery we have over our enemy. 1-19

- Verse 1 is the general idea of the whole chapter

Wrath & Grace:
- God is love, he’s gracious, slow to anger… etc., but there comes a time when God draws the line and there has to be a reckoning. He’s SLOW to anger, that does not mean he never gets angry, and never deals harshly with wrong doers.
We are going to witness a day such as this when God is going to stamp out all His enemies once and for all.

Revelation reads: The trumpet blows. Jesus steps in. IT’S OVER.

This day of wrath is a thing we who are in Christ, will celebrate… just like the Jews in Esther 9.
II. We can celebrate the those who have been saved. 20-32

The celebration was important to Mordecai and Esther, and the Jews were to take it seriously.

Purim:
The feast was initiated to keep the Jewish people, the people who were saved, coming together and celebrating the fact that they were saved.

Echoes in history:
- Purim in the Nuremberg war crime trials.
- Purim is found in the Soviet Union planning to deport most of the Jews in the Soviet Union to Siberia.
We do the same thing with our Christian holidays- Christmas and Easter
- They are about us COMING TOGETHER in thanksgiving and worship.
- As Christians, the fact that we have been rescued by the grace of God, not by our merit should move us to unity.

We have a reason to celebrate WITH one another!

God is always calling out more and saving more people every day.
- There is reason to celebrate. Every soul that is rescued calls for a celebration.
III. We can celebrate our savior. 10:1-3

Mordecai’s honor brought him popularity with his people.
- “He sought the welfare of his people and spoke peace to all his people.”

Mordecai foreshadowed the honor of Jesus.

- Even lost people affirm the truth that Jesus was a man of peace who sought the good of everyone he came in contact with.

- Among those who are saved by him, he is even more honored.

Mordecai was worthy of earthly honor and praise… but Jesus is worthy of the very highest honor and praise.
Conclusion:

- Celebrate the fact that the tomb is empty and the savior who arose from that tomb is coming back to stamp out his enemies and ours.

- Celebrate the fact that the gospel, which is the power of God unto salvation, [and which was the power of God to save us] is going out to the ends of the earth and people continue to be saved by it.

- Celebrate and honor Jesus. He is our savior and He is worthy.
