Sunday Morning, August 14, 2016 - The Paradigm of Culture

A paradigm is set of truths that give us a certain perspective. How we view anything depends upon the truth through which we view it. Many today have a faulty perspective of what the church is to be about. This brief series challenges us to see personal and kingdom life through the lens of Scripture. I’ll be sharing a series of key, brief statements that originate in the Scripture and that guide us as a church. The church is always "under construction” and the blueprint is always the Scripture. What will cause us to be more effective, more biblical and more pleasing to the Lord? That’s the question our Paradigm series will answer.

Paradigm Principles:

Healthy church culture is scriptural, not secular.

Pray first, pray boldly, pray big.

We have single silo – the Gospel.

The church should reflect the diversity of its community

People ARE the mission

“Relationship” is the most important word in the English language.

Acts 6:1-7

1. We make decisions based on biblical and ministry values, not traditions.

Acts 6:1-2

James 1:27

People ARE the mission.

Exodus 18:18

Our “church culture” is revealed by what we talk about. Biblical leaders were talking about teaching truth, assisting hurting people, and furthering the kingdom.
2. The best ministry ideas are in the congregation.

Acts 6:3

Exodus 18:21-22

3. Where trust exists, God moves in powerful ways.

Acts 6:7

Exodus 18:23

The church is not an audience; it’s an army.
