TODAY'S SERMON
Lead Pastor Jeff Denton looks into the rise of some current events like Pokemon Go, acceptance of pornography, and the current political climate. Does what Paul says to the church in Philippi have any relevance to these issues in our culture today?

Pokemon Go Infographic

Here are more statistics on the fast rise of the Pokemon Go game in the USA and around the world.

Statistics on the Rise of Pornography

Pornography has been around for centuries in one form or another. However, the internet and rise of "legitimate porn companies" has made it more acceptable in the eyes of many in our society. These stats are from last year, but they have only increased in the past year. (There are some statistics updated this year, but we have decided those statistics are on pages with other things we're uncomfortable sharing.)

The Political Divide

This site from Pew Research has results of studies this year showing how divisive this election is between members of differing parties.

Key Question:
Does it matter what I allow to capture my attention - and control my heart and mind?
SERMON NOTES:
A. Paul tells Euodia and Syntyche they should get past their difference and agree with each other in the Lord. 4:23

B. Five Exhortations Still Relevant Today

1. Rejoice in the Lord (4:4)
Inner joy despite outward circumstances.
2. Display a gentle spirit. (4:5)
This means selfless, not spineless.
3. Replace worry with prayer. (4:6-7)
4. Let your thoughts be: True, Noble, Right, Pure, Lovely, and Admirable.
5. Reflect all this in how your live (each day). (4:9)

Thank you for joining us today to worship at Waterbrook. We hope this service has helped point you to the saving love of Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. Please contact us - a greeter, pastor, usher, or someone you met today - if you have any questions or any ways we can help.
We will be setting up tables and chairs after the second worship service for this week's Meat-A-Palooza and teacher lunches. Please help if you can.
