“There are times to pull the anchor up and go, and there also are times to drop the anchor down and stay. What does our text say to us about attitudes and actions we need to pull up the anchor on and leave behind?"
1. Circumstances and Majority Determine Best Course
2. We Avoid the Storm by Being Faithful
3. Life is Improved by Accumulation
4. It’s All About Me
5. Stand Still and It Will Go Away
“With anchors up, we are free to set sail in the Lord!”

APPLICATION QUESTIONS:
1. Describe a situation from your own experience where the “majority” was not right, or when what appeared as favorable circumstances actually were not. What does this tell us about the importance of godly counsel, prayer, and knowing the word of God?

2. Review the text of 2 Corinthians 11:22-27. What do we learn of Paul in this text, and what do we learn of Paul’s experience regarding maritime travel? Why is verse 21 almost “humorous” in this light?
3. Open doors do not automatically guarantee that the avenue opened is of God’s will. Read 1 Samuel 24:1-10 and consider how this is illustrated. Read also 1 Corinthians 16:9. Are all of God’s ways “easy” ways?
4. In the midst of the COVID pandemic, most of us have had much more time to reflect upon what is really important in our lives. Identify some items that God would be telling you to “jettison” (throw out) in order to find greater fulfillment in Him. Name some of the items that you have come to value even more in these days of crisis.
5. I found it so intriguing that in the midst of all lives being saved, the ship would nonetheless be lost. What “forms” of church or worship life may indeed be lost or altered and changed forever due to the virus? We know that the “church” will never cease to exist, but what potential changes do you see in its form or structure going forward?
6. Read 1 Corinthians 12:12-27. What truths do we learn here that help us understand that it is indeed “not all about me”?
7. What are ways God is calling you to be “active” in this time of social distancing and potential “shelter in place”?
