Those of us who are Christians know from personal experience that we are not immune to temptation. When tempted, we have two choices: resist or give in. It isn't true that the best way to deal with temptation is to give in. The letter of James encourages us to stand strong. The letter to the Corinthians reminds us that God has given us what we need to resist the temptation. Jesus in the wilderness showed us how to do it. When confronted by Satan Jesus stood strong with confidence that he was not alone. He quoted scripture to Satan and then told him to leave. Christians have the victory over temptation when they exercise self-control and take responsibility for their words and actions. After all, God does hold us accountable.
