Questions about the Promise.
Is that even a promise? What is the context? Is it even right for you to claim it? What if it didn’t work? What about people that it hasn’t worked for? But the promise, even despite all these questions provokes us to deal with God as REAL and committed to working in our lives.

GOD PROMISES HE WILL ALWAYS SHOW UP IN TIMES OF TEMPTATION.
GOD PROMISES TO GIVE US WISDOM IF WE ASK!
GOD PROMISES TO NEVER LEAVE NOR FORSAKE US, BUT TO ALWAYS BE AVAILABLE TO HELP!
GOD PROMISES TO FINISH THE GOOD WORK HE HAS BEGUN IN US.
WHERE ARE WE in GOD’S STORY?
Creation, Fall, Redemption, Restoration.
Some people have what theologians call an under-realized eschatology, which simply means “Living as if Jesus didn’t come, as if we’re in chapter two of God's story (fall), not chapter three (redemption).
Some people have what theologians call an over-realized eschatology, which simply means “Living as if Jesus has comeback,” as if we’re in chapter four of God's story (restoration), not three (redemption).

#2— Ignoring context, AS IF written directly to you.

that they’re turned into
PERFORMANCES.
This whole process is called SANCTIFICATION, learning increasing dependency, not autonomy.
