https://www.thesummitchurch.live/Pastor Jonathan talked about the extremes we often gravitate to when it comes to opening up about our brokenness and the need for God to bring healing to our lives. Which of these extremes are you most likely to move to - Hide or Highlight? Give an example.
What are the reasons we often Hide? What are the reasons we often Highlight?
Healing is found in between those extremes. What does the statement “I’m not there yet, but through Christ, I’m getting there” mean to you?
Often, “opening up” can be a cry for attention. How can we move from our motivation being “Look at me” to “Look at God”?
Read Paul’s healthy example in 2 Corinthians 1:8-11 (NLT). Notice how he brought the focus of his hardships around to God’s faithfulness and power. How can we do the same?
Healing is personal but not private. Discuss the role Community and relationships play in our healing as we open up to each other. How can your group make that a reality?
What did the example of Japanese Kintsugi impact your thinking about opening up to others?
How did the last moments of the sermon affect you, i.e. when Pastor Jonathan asked people to stand according to how they were experiencing the healing of God?
Close in prayer.
