Take a few moments to discuss why we assume that “hurting” is a bad thing and how we go out of our way to avoid pain as a result. What do we do in order to avoid pain?
Why do you think it’s hard for us to see pain as a positive thing and not just negative?
Based on the above passage, discuss what Paul discovered, the hard way. How can you relate to the times when you ask God to do something, and He chooses to not do it?
We hurt and heal at the very same time because we heal through our hurts. Discuss how we often misinterpret the difficulties we face and what we miss out on when we try to avoid them or not deal with them head-on?
Discuss the clay pot analogy Pastor Jonathan used on stage. How did that impact you?
Discuss the frustration that we experience when we confuse “healing” with “cured”.
Briefly share what you are currently facing that is bringing the greatest amount of brokenness and pain in your life. In what ways do you see God bringing healing through that hurt?
Spend a few moments praying for these things together.
