1. God knows all our thoughts, our ways, and our words.
2. God’s presence is always with us, no matter where we go.
The fear of abandonment, being left all alone, is one of our greatest fears. Darkness has a way of covering us and causing us to become anxious and afraid. Our mind will play tricks on us in the night.

3. God creates us with great detail and for a purpose.
People want to minimize human life in the early weeks within a mother’s womb, but God has plans for that unformed substance (v. 16). God writes out the days of our lives before those days even exist. This is how all-knowing, sovereign, and intentional God is when God made each of us in our mother’s womb.

4. God is holy; evil is evil, and we need God to search us.
Psalm 139 ends by emphasizing what should be our primary focus as we seek to know the Lord—we need to ask God to look inside of us.
A person who truly knows God willingly asks God to search his or her heart. God won’t lead us in the way everlasting with us knowingly keeping grievous things in our hearts and minds.
