RUNNING THE RACE

Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

Three areas of vision and Growth
· Disciples making Disciples (Mission as a body of believers)
· Spiritual Health/Growth/Life (Maturity)
· Celebration (Connection and Encouragement)

DISCIPLES MAKING DISICPLES
· Mission Communities to disciple and connect

The Great Commission
Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: “God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.”

19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
· Jesus commissions us to go and make disciples.
· Make disciplesis a cyclical term meaning.. be a disciple, make a disciple who then is a disciple and makes a disciple
· Your gifting is a part of your calling to disciple

1 Thessalonians 2:6-8 Even though we had some standing as Christ’s apostles, we never threw our weight around or tried to come across as important, with you or anyone else. We weren’t aloof with you. We took you just as you were. We were never patronizing, never condescending, but we cared for you the way a mother cares for her children. We loved you dearly. Not content to just pass on the Message, we wanted to give you our hearts. And we did. (msg)

Mission Community
· Facilitate bible engagement and fellowship
· With people of peace, reaching out to un churched
· Where? Home, coffee shop, work, school, park, beach, etc..

SPIRITUAL HEALTH AND COMMUNITY
· Emotional health and spiritual maturity are inseparable. These things come through community.
· Galatians 6:2 Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.

Galatians 6:4-5 Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life.

Romans 12:1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
· 5 steps of transformation: Aware, Contemplate/Consider, Value, The Action/Behavior GAP (Conflict of knowing yet not doing), Prioritize, Own and share

Ephesians 4:11 Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. 13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.

CELEBRATION
Sunday Worship
o Worship – Not just singing but surrender
o Testimonies – We are not just slugging it out, God is doing great things
o Teaching/Discussion
o Prayer – Join in prayer. Praying together has impact.
o Communication/Community/Fellowship

1 Corinthians 14:26-33 So here’s what I want you to do. When you gather for worship, each one of you be prepared with something that will be useful for all: Sing a hymn, teach a lesson, tell a story, lead a prayer, provide an insight. If prayers are offered in tongues, two or three’s the limit, and then only if someone is present who can interpret what you’re saying.

Otherwise, keep it between God and yourself. And no more than two or three speakers at a meeting, with the rest of you listening and taking it to heart. Take your turn, no one person taking over. Then each speaker gets a chance to say something special from God, and you all learn from each other.
