Discerning Open and Closed Doors
Discerning Open and Closed Doors We need to learn practical ways to recognize the opportunities and doors God opens for us. Many of us shut down because we are facing too many choices. Sometimes, we go through doors that God never intended us to open and some of us, just stare at the door in fear, not able to go through it. In this message, Pastor Jon outlines ways we can line our life up with the doors God is opening for us.

Learning how to discern what door to go through is a crucial part of our spiritual life.
Discerning is a spiritual gift we need to be asking for each and every day.
In its simplest definition, discernment is nothing more than the ability to decide between truth and error, right and wrong. Discernment is the process of making careful distinctions in our thinking about truth.
Discernment — the ability to think biblically about all areas of life — is indispensable to an uncompromising life.

C. S. Lewis on God's Will
"There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'

1 Corinthians 16:5-7 ESV
I will visit you after passing through Macedonia, for I intend to pass through Macedonia, and perhaps I will stay with you or even spend the winter, so that you may help me on my journey, wherever I go. For I do not want to see you now just in passing. I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits.

2nd Observation - Not every open door from God is easy.

5. You seek godly counsel who agrees with your _________________ you've made up your mind about it.
Questions, I ask about the "others" question.
Am I being pressured to go through this door?
If I go through this door, would it bother me if everyone knew this was my choice?
Would people around me who depend on me, be blessed by this decision?

Pray this before every door decision you make,
Father, do you have anything to say to me today? (about this decision)
As you turn, the handle of the door say “Speak Lord, your servant is listening.”
