What is the reference point for your life?
CHRIST as our reference point.

Colossians 3:4 Christ, who is your life. NLT
CULTURE as our reference point
Applying “The Jesus way” can be messy

John 1:14 Jesus was full of grace and truth
Apply “The Jesus Way” correcting using the Bible to make course corrections
Our goal: Loving like Jesus loved
Do you discriminate?

How would you know?
We are image bearers of God
Image Bearer of God: God is love
John 13:34 As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

“What does loving like Jesus require of me?”
Galatians 5:6 The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
Image Bearer of God: God is creative
Image Bearer of God: God is just
Image Bearer of God: God is spirit
God created the diversity

All people groups are different representations of God
The Jesus Way: Shows value, dignity and worth to every person
John 3:16 For God so loved the world
The Jesus Way: Jesus met with a Samaritan women in John 4
The Jesus Way: The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:29-37)
The Jesus Way: Applied in Acts 15

The Jewish church discriminated against the gentile Christians
The Jesus Way: Jesus doesn’t condemn (John 8)

They were creating categories and labeling people
The Jesus Way: Peter and Cornelius (A gentile)

Acts 10:34 Then Peter began to speak: "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism. NIV
The Jesus Way: There are no favorites with God

Culture’s Way: We have to differentiate, distinguish and group people together
Our favorite or preference doesn’t dictate if something is good or bad unless we allow it too
God created diversity in humanity
Discrimination: You are wrong. You are inferior (Lower, less than)
Discrimination: When preference becomes good and bad. When diversity becomes right and wrong
Discrimination: Assumes individuals behavior upon a people group
Discrimination: Thinks and says “Those People”

Luke 18:11 I thank you God that I am not like other people. NIV
Discrimination: Rooted in personal benefit
The Jesus Way: Serve others for their benefit
Proverbs 28:21 Showing partiality is never good, yet some will do wrong for a mere piece of bread. NLT
Pharisees avoided “THOSE PEOPLE”! because no benefit for them
Antidote: A medicine taken to counteract a poison

Discrimination is poison. The antidote to discrimination is to serve others
How do we identify seeds of this discrimination in ourselves?
Who do you avoid?
Who would you avoid?
