CHAPTER 2
God rested and blessed the 7th day
Garden of Eden
2 trees - Tree of Life, Tree of knowledge of good and evil
Four Rivers - Pishon, Gihon, Tigris, Euphrates
Tigris & Euphrates we know today
Pishon & Gihon - there's only speculation with hundreds of miles between the guesses
Man was put in the garden to work it.
Man was allowed to eat any fruit
Except for the tree of knowledge of good and evil
Not good for man to be alone
God had Adam name every animal
No helper suitable for man among the animals
God created woman

CHAPTER 3
The serpent - presents a challenge to the one rule that Adam was given
Tempted with knowledge
They immediately lost their innocence. They knew they were naked. They knew shame.
Adam blames Eve blames the Serpent
God issues curses on all 3
God removed man from the garden

CHAPTER 4
2 boys are born to Adam & Eve
2 offerings - one accepted
God warns Cain and directs him toward ruling over sin
Cain kills Abel
God issues another curse
Lamech - Cain's great-great-grandson - proclaims his violence and that he's a murderer

CHAPTER 5
Several hundred years compressed into this chapter
During this time very long life spans, including Methuseleh at 969 years

CHAPTER 6
God sees the corruption between the "sons of God" and the "daughters of man"
God says he will shorten man's lifespan to 120 years
God sees the wickedness of man. "Every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually"
God decides to blot out man - but Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord
God calls Noah to build the ark - I will establish my covenant with you

CHAPTER 7
Time to go! Gather the animals.
Flood comes - Noah is 600 years old.
40 days and 40 nights of continual rain
Highest mountains covered by 15 cubits (about 25 feet)
All flesh died
Waters prevailed 150 days

CHAPTER 8
God remembered Noah
Waters subsided
After 7 months, 17 days, the ark came to rest
Waters continued to abate another 3 months
Raven & Dove
"Go out; bring every animal out; be fruitful & multiply"
God gives Noah the covenant - "I will never again curse the ground because of man...neither will I ever again strike down every living creature as I have done."

CHAPTER 9
"Be fruitful. Multiply. Fill the Earth."
God gives dominion over the animals to man
God gives man every plant and animal to eat - just not blood
God gives the symbol of his covenant - the rainbow
Noah proceeds to get drunk. One son cursed. Other two blessed.
