SERMON: “Let Us Run" ~ Hebrews 12:1-3

“What are the three necessities to running the race before us with success?”

1. Recognize the Command to Run

2. Know the Course We Run

3. Look Always to the Commander of the Run

“God is not done with us, therefore, let us run!”

APPLICATION QUESTIONS:

1. Reflect upon your own memories of significant times or events in church life, particularly those relating to Abiding Savior. Consider times of hardship or challenge and those of blessing and growth. Share with the group their import and meaning to your own walk of faith. What has been the over-riding significance of this church family to your own life?

2. It was stated today that the legacy of the past should encourage us, but it is the legacy that Jesus is building now that must inspire us. Do you agree or disagree? At this moment in time, what do you believe is your legacy? What is the legacy of our church family? What do you desire these two legacies to be, and how what must change for this to occur?

3. Review the following biblical texts. What do they mean for us, and what do they tell us about our walk in this life as believers and what we are to expect? John 16:33; 2 Corinthians 12:10; 1 Thessalonians 3:4; 1 Timothy 1:12; 2 Timothy 2:3, 4:7-8.

4. What encouragements do we receive from the following Scriptures? How can we find comfort and even joy in these truths? Psalm 16:11; 2 Chronicles 20:12; Lamentations 3:22-23; Romans 5:3-5; 1 Corinthians 9:24, 15:57-58; Philippians 3:13-14; Hebrews 13:5-6.

5. Read these biblical texts and share what is to be our ultimate motivation and goal as we run the race of faith? Psalm 20:7; 34:3, 115:1; Philippians 3:7-8, 14.

6. Identify the most impactful thought or principle you received in this week’s message. How will it impact your walk of faith personally as an individual and corporately as a church member?
