APPLICATION QUESTIONS:
1. Share with the group a couple of “game changing” events in your own life and the impact they had on you then and now. How was your life changed as a result?

2. Review the account of Exodus 3:7-10 and Acts 9:15-16. What do these accounts (and countless others similar in the Scripture) reveal about how God works? How does this encourage us as we consider our role as instruments in God’s hands? What is the significance of God opting to use instruments as opposed to Divine fiat to accomplish His work?
3. Food laws in the Old Testament epitomized the separation of God’s people from others, their unique standing before God, and their status as the people chosen of God to witness to His greatness and majesty before all the peoples of the earth. Review the following texts and respond to the questions below: Leviticus 11:1-7, 13-19, 29-30; 20:26; Deuteronomy 10:17; Isaiah 9:1-2, 49:6; Ezekiel 4:13-14; Mark 7:14-23 How would Peter have felt when the heavenly voice commanded him to eat? What is the significance of its three-fold repetition? How had Jesus already indicated a radical change in the ceremonial (dietary) laws of the Jews? What indication do we have that God has always had a heart for all people in all times?
4. In our text this week, Cornelius is described as a man who led his family and household well, feared God, gave generously, and prayed with frequency. This is quite a favorable portrait! Discuss how people would describe you, and the words and terms they would use. Perhaps go around the group and let others speak to one or two words that describe each of you. Are there words you would like to see changed?
5. Review the “sermon” Peter preached in 10:34-44 and identify key components of his message. How did God affirm this message? What is its significance for all of us today?
6. We commonly believe that people can be saved because they are “good”. What does our text teach us about this concept? Consider 10:22, 42-43; 11:13-14. What is necessary for salvation?
