July 7, 2019 - Pastor Keith Miller

What seems insurmountable up close, can look tiny far away.

Yet unlike our physical world, in the spirit we take our mountains with us. We can move away, but when we look back they are still there as close as before. There is only one direction we can move to change this.

James 4:8

What happens then?

Psalms 97:5

Micah 1:4

So that’s it? Draw close and all the problems are solved? Not by a long shot.

God expects us to do something about our situation, using the power He gave us. Prayer? Singing? Sermons? What? Speaking?

It starts at Salvation . . .

Romans 10:9

You can’t pray this in your head only. You can’t simply believe without confessing it. You speak and believe. “And” means something done at the same time as the other. We call this faith.

Hebrews 11:1

So what does this have to do with our mountains?

Are we passive or active?

Mark 11:23

Who is supposed to speak? Often times our mountains don’t get moved because we’re waiting on God to do it - and He’s waiting on us to obey and speak to it ourselves using His authority.

Doubt: In Greek means to withdraw from or oppose.

Withdraw or oppose what? God’s Word

Proverbs 4:21-23

Everything - Good or Bad - The Heart supplies the words of our mouth!

Luke 6:45

Is disease good or evil? Is lack good or evil? What words are you speaking?

Some may confidently say - what we say doesn’t really affect us . . .

Matthew 6:24

Mammon - most often translated wealth or money, however actually means confidence (as in confidence to do things through monetary or other worldly means)

Proverbs 3:5-6

You can’t be in the driver’s seat and let God drive. If God is your co-pilot you’ve got big problems. You have to decide who is in charge.

Part of that means we don’t allow ourselves to be swayed by anything in this world that goes contrary to God’s Word. And we don’t doubt God’s Word. If we don’t understand something we need to ask.

God promises to give wisdom.

James 1:5

The minute we start thinking is the minute we get in trouble. There’s a reason God is constantly comparing us to sheep.

Why is this important?

James 4:8

Double minded - literally means two spirited (to vascillate)

Scripture tells us the double minded are unstable in all their way.

We have to walk by faith alone.

2 Corinthians 5:7

Live - death is the opposite of life, so disease is never part of God’s plan.

We earn a “living” - God is our source.

God repeats Himself multiple times on this theme - so it must be important!

Romans 1:17

Galatians 3:11

Hebrews 10:38

Jeremiah 17:14

We don’t often doubt our salvation - why do we doubt things like healing or prosperity or anything else in the natural?

After you’re saved if someone ask you about it you say you were saved at a certain time and you can reference the place, the song, the church etc., but when it comes to healing or prosperity or anything else that manifests in the natural we always speak about it in the future, like we’re waiting to see it before we say we have it.

That is never faith. (Hebrews 11:1)

Hebrews 11:1

Sin and mountain moving are not synonomous. Is there sin in your camp?

Is there sin in the camp? (Joshua 7) Unforgiveness, strife, etc. God cannot bless in the midst of sin, but if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. But how close are we looking at ourselves?

Romans 14:23

God does not condemn us when we fall, he cheers us on with each step we take.

1 John 1:9

Once we know we are in right standing we can ask in faith and with boldness.

Luke 11:5-13

Do we come to God hat in hand like Oliver asking for a little more, or do we approach the throne of grace boldly, as a child of the King?

Do our actions and words line up with our head knowledge?

Draw close! Speak to the Mountain! Walk/stand/be firmly planted in Faith!

Hebrews 11:1

Renew mind daily to the Word (we only believe what the Word says about us and our situation)

Ignore all of Job’s friends that may come out!

Receive with gladness and joy.

Share testimony to encourage and build up others!
