A Relevant Question

1. There is a general sense of spiritual apathy or indifference among believers today.

2. Our spiritual indifference is manifested in several ways (prayerlessness, decreased or no Bible reading, decreased or no worship attendance at your church, diminished or no involvement in the life of your church, etc).

3. We typically blame others (our church, the worship service, ministry involvement, etc.) for having become spiritually apathetic.

4. Is it possible that the source of our indifference is ourselves?
The Real Issue

1. Apathy or indifference in any relationship is a direct result of heart issue where one's attention is directed to something or someone else.

2. Spiritual apathy or indifference is a result of our having lost our love for Jesus Christ because we have directed that love to something or someone else.
So What Do We Do?

1. Remember - You need to remember what it was like when you were excited about your relationship with Jesus Christ. Remember how that excitement was evident in every area of your life (prayer, Bible reading, worship attendance at your church, involvement in the life of your church, etc.)

2. Consider - You need to consider and own your current spiritual condition. The problem is you!

3. Repent - Repentance is more than just acknowledging your problem. It is owning it and making a conscious, determined choice to deal with it. It is deciding that you want what God has for your life.

4. Start Over - Once you have made that decision to change, you have to get back to the basics. You have to start over in your relationship with Christ. You need to focus on praying and reading your Bible. You need to start attending services at your church with an anticipation of seeing God. You have to start over.

5. Recognize - You have to recognize that if you do not deal with your spiritual apathy, things are not going to go well with you spiritually. That is a reality. So deal with it!!!

Giving Online at CCC

At Curwensville Christian Church, we express this truth (worshiping through our giving) by agreeing together “to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations,” as we strive to honor the Lord with the “firstfruits” of all our labor.
