Talk is Cheap - James 1

Proverbs 18:21 (NIV) The tongue has the power of life and death,

James 1:1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ...

1. It’s not enough to talk the talk. We have to walk the walk.

James 1:22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

2. It’s not enough to walk the walk. We have to talk the talk.

James 1:26 Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.

Our faith should both inform and perform.

James 3:7-8 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.

James 1:21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
