JESUS CAME TO SET US FREE!
PROGRESSION FROM SLAVERY TO FREEDOM...
BELIEVE IN JESUS
30 As he was saying these things, many believed in him.
Many feel they are OK because they believe in God.
Jesus explains there is more:
ABIDE IN MY WORD
31-32 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him,
"IF you ABIDE in my word, you are truly my disciples,and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
Hebrews 4:12-16
For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

AWARENESS
33 They answered him, "We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, 'You will become free'?"
34 Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I say to you,
Everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin.
They had no sense of their bondage to sin.
SLAVERY INCREASES WITH EACH
MEASURE OF SIN
RULED BY DESIRE
HEART DEFILED
WILL ENSLAVED
SIN IS ADDICTIVE.
Proverbs 5:22 (ESV) The iniquities of the wicked ensnare him, and he is held fast in the cords of his sin.
It manifests itself in
self-centeredness
addictive behaviors
dysfunctional relationships
JESUS WILL SET MEN FREE FROM THIS SLAVERY THAT KEEPS US FROM BECOMING THE PERSON GOD CREATED US TO BE.

WE MUST BE GROWING IN OUR RELATIONSHIP

TRUST THE SON
35-36 The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

THOSE WHO ARE REALLY FREE ARE CHANGED BECAUSE OF NEW RESIDENCE: JESUS CHRIST
SONS AND DAUGHTERS

Jesus is clearly saying FREEDOM IS GOD'S WORK.

When we encounter God's Grace we come face to face with God...We experience God in a way that softens our heart, enliven our spirit and transforms our lives...
Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV)
For by GRACE you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves;
it is the GIFT OF GOD, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
We believe “God doesn’t treat us as we deserve, HE TREATS US AS HE VALUES US.” We believe God’s GRACE changes everything, allowing us to forgive the past and move on to a great future.
God became man to bear our sin on the cross as an atoning sacrifice to offer us GRACE...
that we might be able to come to God and have relationship with Him
John 1:12
But as many as RECEIVED Him, to them He gave the right to BECOME CHILDREN OF GOD, to those who BELIEVE in His name:
