How Deadly Is Quicksand?
How To Escape Quicksand
1. The path towards peace...
1. In your life, have you been a victim of deceit, anger, unwholesome talk and/or theft? Did you feel distrust? Scared? Unsafe? Offended? Hurt? How so?
2. In your life, have you been the perpetrator of deceit? Anger? Unwholesome talk? Theft? Have you ever taken into consideration how these behaviors may have effected others? How do you feel about that?
3. How do these behaviors lead to conflict?
2. The path towards peace...
Small Pox and the Conquest of Mexico
The Most Dangerous Word In The World
1. What are your initial thoughts about righteous anger versus sinful anger?
2. Have you ever had to express righteous anger? How so?
3. Have you ever intentionally used anger to manipulate and/or accomplish selfish ends?
4. In regard to those things that lead to anger, how might you better apply the concept of short accounts, better?
5. How might you preemptively stop anger from gaining a foothold?
6. In regard to the Psychology Today article, were you surprised by what you heard? How, with whom and where can you be more intentional about affirming and encouraging others?
3. The path towards peace...
1. Theologians call it, sanctification. Sanctification is the process of God at work within you, transforming you from 'old, corrupted self' to 'new, righteous and holy, self'. How comfortable are you with trying your best and letting God do the rest?
1. Memorize Ephesians 4:22, 24 (abridged), "...put off your old self which is being corrupted. And put on the new self, created to be like God in righteousness and holiness."
2. Contemplate the areas in your life where you need to turn away from deceit, anger, unwholesome talk and theft.
3. Cultivate self-control over your anger and try to look for opportunities to affirm and encourage others.
4. Attempt to be your best and allow the Holy Spirit to do the rest.
