Going Deeper is designed for use with your small group, a friend or on you own. Its aim is to create time for you to spend with God and his word. Do as much or as little as you like. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact one of our pastoral staff.
1. Pray for the needs of your Life Group, for our church and our leaders, for personal and corporate renewal, and to allow God’s word to transform us.
Share a recent entry from your Life Journal with the group.

2. This Sunday, the message focus was on Jesus’ Crucifixion and his Fulfillment as Saviour and King. What thoughts or questions did the message raise for you? Which ones encouraged you or posed a challenge toyou?
3. Read Exodus 12:2-12, 1 Peter 1:18-19, John 1:29. In what ways can you see Jesus as “the Passover Lamb”? In what ways was He different – a more perfect lamb (i.e. offered Himself)? How does this relate to Him being our “Saviour”?
4. The arrival of the Messiah-king had been prophesied and anticipated for
centuries. Why, then, was it so difficult for the Jewish leaders and people to
accept Jesus as this expected saviour?

5. The pairs of identifiers – suffering servant (Isa. 53) with king (Rev. 1:5) and Lamb of God (John 1:29) with Lion of Judah (Rev. 5:5) appear, superficially to be polar opposites. How can they be describing the same person? In what way do they paint the perfect picture of the Redeemer, Messiah, Lord, and King of Kings?
6. Share with your group how you might typically respond to someone who has grievously wronged you. How does that reflect (or not) the way Jesus responds to us? Do you believe that Jesus has forgiven you of every sin? Where might you need to move towards God to repent and be restored?
7. In what ways have you witnessed the saving and transforming power of Christ in your own life? What does it mean that he is both your saviour and king? How might you explain this to others (strangers, friends, or family) who do not know Christ personally?
8. Take a moment of silence to consider how God is speaking to you through these verses. Is He asking you to make changes or to do something new? What concrete steps of response do you want to take? How can your group support you in these steps?
