Backpack Buddies
Back to school means our backpack ministry will begin again soon! Through this ministry we provide weekend snack bags for children living in food insecure homes. We work with two local elementary schools, Sedge Garden and Smith Farm, to identify children in need and to distribute the bags to children.
The school social workers and guidance counselors are currently working to identify the largest needs in this new school year. As soon as they are ready, we will begin providing snack bags again. Your help is needed in these ways:
1) We need additional volunteers to help us pack bags and deliver these bags to the schools.
2) We need donations of specific snack items for these bags (see below).
3) We need your prayers to support this ministry in the most important way.
For more information, contact Linda Morris or Pam Mitchell.
Items Needed:
¨ Individual boxes of raisins
¨ Fruit snacks (gummies)
¨ Bags of cheez-its
¨ Cups of applesauce
¨ Rice crispy treats
¨ Packs of oatmeal
¨ Packs of animal crackers
¨ Cups of pudding
¨ Microwave popcorn
¨ Packs of nabs (cheese only)
¨ Small pop-top cans of spaghetti-o’s
¨ Spaghetti and meatballs
¨ Ravioli
¨ Granola bars without nuts
¨ Gallon-sized Ziploc bags
