Drive Like Jehu
Anointing zealous KINGS & PROPHETS
Text: 2 Kings, 9-10, 1 Kings 19:9-18
2 Kings 10:15 After he left there, he came upon Jehonadab son of Recab, who was on his way to meet him. Jehu greeted him and said, “Are you in accord with me, as I am with you?”
“I am,” Jehonadab answered.
“If so,” said Jehu, “give me your hand.” So he did, and Jehu helped him up into the chariot. 16 Jehu said, “Come with me and see my zeal for the LORD.” Then he had him ride along in his chariot.
Come see my zeal for the Lord
Zeal: great energy or enthusiasm in pursuit of a cause or objective
Revolution is born in the heart of the revolutionary the moment they find a cause worthy of sacrifice - Daniel Norris, Trail Of Fire
Three Traits the Zealous Christ-Follower MUST Embrace
1) Those who are driven with zeal for the Lord are FEARLESS before the world
Jehu wasn’t like everyone else. He was truly set apart. Even the way he rode was so unique that from afar, a watchman could pick him out of the crowd
No man is greater than is own prayer life, a man who is weak in prayer, is weak everywhere. - Leonard Ravenhill
Those who are called to do great exploits for the Lord find their public ministry remains ineffective until they find a private anointing.
A Fearless, Zealous leader
- Gives no ear to the criticism of those who sit idle in the crowd
- Surrenders their own fears, insecurities and weakness to the Call
- Leaves nothing on the table, pays any price
- Feeling the urgency of the moment, wastes no time and goes immediately to work
2) Those who are driven with zeal for the Lord are FORERUNNERS in the world
Jehu drove in such a way that caused others to naturally follow
Many are following the wrong things, wrong pursuits, wrong people. Appropriate question: Am I headed the right direction? Who am I following? Where am I leading others?
3) Those who are driven with zeal for the Lord are found FAITHFUL within this world
Jehu didn’t let anything stand in his way, he remained faithful to the Lord and to the Lord’s call… didn’t stop to check out Jezebel, he literally drove over her!
Heb 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
How you deal with Jezebel:
1) You don’t give ear to her
Eph 4:27 and give no opportunity to the devil.
Recognize the source of temptation & turn away
2) You throw her down
2 Cor 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. 5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,
Radically deal with the source
3) You run her over
Rom 16:20 The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
Luke 10:19 Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you
Remember your authority
