Pray to Grow in Love
· The focus of Paul’s prayer is that they would grow in their ability to love each other (Ephesians 1:15-16, Colossians 1:3-4, 1 Thessalonians 3:12)
· A measuring point of Christian maturity and Christ-likeness is loving well fellow believers (John 13:34-35, 1 John 3:14)
· We are to love one another well – with wisdom (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
Pray for Focus on what is Really Important
· Loving others well, based upon God’s wisdom, will lead to focusing on the right things in this life
· Paul says our lives need to be focused on what really counts
· What really counts is loving others well (1 Corinthians 13:1-3)
· What really counts is allowing the Holy Spirit to make us like Jesus
· What really counts is living on mission till we see Jesus
Pray for the Power of Identity to Transform
· What is meant by the “fruit of righteousness”? (Revelation 19:8)
· The righteousness Paul references here is not our practical righteousness, but that which we have received from Jesus (Philippians 3:9)
· Paul’s prayer is that on the day they stand before Jesus they will display the fruit of having been transformed into His image
· When we live in our identity in Christ, the fruit of that is: He is making us into that same image – transforming us to be like Jesus
