Johan's Bio

Jennifer Hernandez was born and raised on the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawaii. Her love for sharing Jesus began when she dedicated her voice to Him, as a child by singing throughout the islands; preaching began during high school. Motivated to answer God’s call on her life, Jen moved her family to England, where she obtained her BS in Behavioral Sciences at Newbold College. Together with her husband, Armando, and their five boys, God has taken them on a journey of faith, with opportunities to share His love throughout Europe and the United States. She enjoys being actively involved in children’s ministries, women’s ministries, and worship ministries. Jennifer recently graduated with her Master of Divinity degree from Andrews University Theological Seminary and is excited to now be serving as an Associate Pastor at Plantation Seventh-day Adventist Church.

I Samuel 16:1-13

This is an interesting story that shows the danger of discrimination. (Jesse from before hand didn’t EVEN consider to show David as one of his sons to be chosen to be king. That’s discrimination in the family.

As I said before, Discrimination comes in all forms, some of which we don’t expect or
even realize. There are a few points you should note.

Discriminating Against the Younger Members of the Family

David was discriminated against in his own family, because he was deemed to be too young…

Discrimination in the family can appear very often… Most parents may be very careful not to discriminate negatively, but they may easily discriminate positively…

Yes, there is positive discrimination which is favoring a certain person out of a group of people... Remember the story of Joseph and his brothers? His father showed positive\ discrimination towards him…

As a reaction to positive discrimination, there came the negative discrimination.

Discriminating Against the Youth of the Church

Often, the more experienced church leaders and elders bypass some of us young people thinking we are either too young, inexperienced or irresponsible…

The truth is that we are willing, eager and with a little guidance, can be well equipped to serve God and lead...

I Timothy 4:12

Church family, don’t discriminate against us or pass us by because we are young, God can use anyone do his work. The youth in this church play a very very big role. Helping with media, film ministry, helping the community, praise and worship and a lot more. Look at me for example I’m up here preaching a whole Sermon and I am only 15.

Discriminating Against the Young People In Society

Many of us, probably each of us, have, at some point, been discriminated against. In doing research for this topic, I read that even Jesus was a victim of both religious and racial discrimination. In his teaching, Jesus challenged the prejudices of the people of his day. Jews and Samaritans would not even talk to each other. In the famous ‘Parable of the Good Samaritan’, Jesus makes a Samaritan the hero who stopped to help an injured Jew.

Jesus also makes a point of stopping at a Samaritan village and talking with a Samaritan woman. He treats her with courtesy and respect, which proves to be a life-transforming encounter for her. Let’s stick together.... UNITED WE STAND; DIVIDED WE FALL! Let us not discriminate against each other.

Please make sure you legibly print your first and last names and address (including apartment number) on the tithe envelope every time you turn one in to keep our records current. We have several families with the same last name, so if you want to have an accurate tithe report at the end of the year, please be specific regarding your name and address. If we can't read your name or you don't give us an address, unfortunately, we can't provide you with a tax receipt.

Then place it in the Church Clerk’s mailbox located in the Ministries Office.
