Welcome to First Baptist Church!

For Our Guests:

We are excited that you have joined us. You are an answered prayer. If you don't mind to fill out a Connection Card, that should be in front of your seat, and either put it in the offering plate or give it to another member, we'd greatly appreciate it. These cards help us to attend to ministry needs and learn about the new people that God has brought to visit our church.

Take a few moments to read through some of the announcements and opportunities of service in our weekly bulletin. By doing this, you will learn about our church's emphasis on missions and discipleship. Let me also encourage you also to consider attending some of our small group Bible studies to get a greater understanding of what God is doing in the lives of His people here. I believe what makes our church unique is the love of Christ that He has poured into each member. We are by no means a perfect church, but we do desire a closer relationship with our perfect Savior. Please let us know if there is any way that we can pray for or minister to your family. Thank you for your visit!

~Pastor Ryan Morris

For Our Members:

We are glad that you have joined us today. Be sure to welcome any guests that we have at our church. Go out of your way to show them that you are glad that they are here. Remember that building relationships is more than just shaking a hand or saying "We're glad you're here." Take time to get to know people. Offer them "your" seat or sit beside them. Think about how you would want to be treated, and then, go love on them.

Also, take time to look at the various opportunities of service (announcements). We need your help to advance the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Remember that salvation is a calling to serve. Feel free to contact a staff member if you have a prayer request or a need for ministry. You can also fill out one of the Connection Cards if a prayer or ministry need arises. Thank you for your faithful attendance and service at FBCHB!

~Brother Ryan

For the Facilitator

Re-read the sermon text as you begin the discussion. The outline of the sermon is above. You may reference as a discussion guide if you'd like. Feel free to spend as much time as necessary on each question. It is perfectly OK, if you aren't able to ask every question. Also, choose whatever questions that you think will lead to in-depth group participation. We want to encourage deeper discussions from the sermon. You might share some of your own questions or testify about how the Holy Spirit spoke to your heart through His Word.

Questions from the Sermon

1) Why do you think that a lot of people find the study of Revelation scary? Do you find it difficult to understand? What were your first thoughts when you heard that we were going to study Revelation?

2) How did the sermon's teaching about blessings differ from the world's understanding of blessings? Do you think that you tend to yearn for spiritual blessings or material blessings in your life?

3) What were ways that a Christian can ready themselves for Christ's return from the sermon from Revelation 1:3 on January 27th? (The sermon emphasized the imminence of Christ's return and the reminder that His return will bring salvation to some and judgment to others).

4) What did today's sermon teach about how someone can be blessed when they die? How should this affect the way that we live? How do you think unbelievers view the prospect of their own death? How should Christians view it?

5) If Christians are not going to be present during the time of the Great Tribulation, why is it important that we study passages about the Great Tribulation (like Revelation 6-18)?

6) The saints during the Great Tribulation are said to persevere. What do you think of when you hear the word "persevere"? Do you find that it is easy to give up when times get difficult or give in when temptations seem unbearable? How does the example of these Tribulation saints or other "heroes" of the Bible encourage us to persevere in our faith?

7) Has there ever been a time in your life when you had difficulty resting? What were some of those circumstances? What did the sermon say about the Bible's teaching about rest? How does it relate to salvation? How does it inspire hope? Read Revelation 7:15-17 & Revelation 21:3-6. What phrases about Heaven in these passages particularly encourage you?

8) Review some of the sermon's thoughts about rewards. What crowns do you remember being mentioned this morning (References are 1 Cor. 9:25; 1 Thess. 2:19; James 1:12; 2 Tim. 4:6-8; 1 Pet. 5:2-4)? What did the sermon say we were going to do with these crowns? Why do you think that is going to happen?
