Welcome to Grace Chapel! We worship God out of true abandonment and surrender to His Glory. While worship is primarily ascribing to God the praise He is due, we receive great benefit by abandoning ourselves to a whole-life reaction to His revelation. Worship is for God, but it also benefits us.
Psalm 103:1-5 ESV
A.W. Tozer writes in The Knowledge of the Holy:
“What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us. The most portentous fact about any man is not what he at a given time may say or do, but what he in his deep heart conceives God to be like. We tend by a secret law of the soul to move toward our mental image of God.
True worship is a life of FAITH, ADORATION, and OBEDIENCE, resulting from the revelation of God in our lives.
Evaluate your heart:
· Who or what consumes your thoughts?
· What motivates you to action?
· What moves you? What most stirs you emotionally?
Five categories of “Idols” that our hearts produce:
· Fear of man, acceptance, approval
· Success, power, control
· Comfort, convenience, tranquility, ease
· Money, possessions
· Sensual pleasure
True worship is for God, but it always benefits the WORSHIPER.
The results of true worship:
We will hear God’s INSTRUCTION and WARNING. (v. 13)

We will have COURAGE to do what God said. (v. 14)

THIS WEEK I WILL:
• Identify where I need to change my thinking and behavior and ask God to help.
• Show courage by obeying Christ in one specific area of my life.
• Ask a person close to me where they see God’s promises being fulfilled in my life.
• Invite someone to come to the Christmas Eve service.
