Today's message: Prevenient Grace
God always makes the first move to us.
Walking with God
Like a path between two steep valleys.
Review
Created for: Relationship with loving God
Problem: Sin
Solution: Jesus' death and resurrection
Walking with God
Non-religious cliff - forcing God's favor through our actions, being our own measure of good.
Walking with God
Non-religious cliff - forcing God's favor through our actions, being our own measure of good.
Walking with God
Religious cliff - earning God's favor through our actions.
Walking with God
Staying on the path means depending on him. He is the source of good.
Called by God
God first calls and invites us to follow him out of death (life apart from Him) and into life (life with Him).
Called by God
People can't earn or deserve God's call. It is a gift of love and must be continually responded to.
Called by God
God calls and we must respond.
Called by God
God's constant calling we call Prevenient (first, before) Grace.
Called by God
Whenever we think of God, it is in response to him first approaching us.
Called by God
God invites us but we can choose to say no to him.
We Believe
God made everything. He loves us. We rejected God, but God is always working to save us. And He offers forgiveness and life through the death and resurrection of Jesus. We become a new person as we repent, and totally surrender our lives to God. God guides us and transforms us as we let his Spirit live in us, and as we learn from the Bible.
