1)    God's grace brings us into His family.
2)    God's purposes cannot be overturned by human hands.
God's grace brings outsiders into His family.
Ephesians 2
13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
Ephesians 2
19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone,
Galatians 4
4 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. 6 And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” 7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.
Genesis 48
13 And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel's left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel's right hand and brought them near him. 14 And Israel stretched out his right hand and laid it on the head of Ephraim, who was the younger, and his left hand on the head of Manasseh, crossing his hands (for Manasseh was the firstborn).
Genesis 48
17 When Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand on the head of Ephraim, it displeased him, and he took his father's hand to move it from Ephraim's head to Manasseh's head. 18 And Joseph said to his father, “Not this way, my father; since this one is the firstborn, put your right hand on his head.”
Genesis 48
19 But his father refused and said, “I know, my son, I know. He also shall become a people, and he also shall be great.
Nevertheless, his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his offspring shall become a multitude of nations.”
Jacob says, "I know, my son, I know."
God's sovereignty does not make evil good.
Don't assume that the outcome you wanted was the only way God could work.
Don't let another person's sin become the authority over your future.
God's sovereignty is not an excuse for our passivity.
God's sovereignty carries His promise forward
Grace brings people in.
God's faithfulness is greater than our ability to understand the story.
