How do you know if you're inside God's timing?
God's timing is the convergence of calling, character, and competency.
• Calling + character, no competency: you'll live disappointed.
• Calling + competency, no character: you'll build something and then lose it.
• Character + competency, no calling: you'll never be satisfied.
3 Ways we outrun God and how to stay inside His time.
1. We think we're ready, before we actually are
Ahimaaz | אֲחִימַעַץ
(ah·khee·MAH·ahts)
”Eyes tied shut"
3 Ways we outrun God and how to stay inside His time.
2. We grab what God promised to give
Mashiach | מָשִׁיחַ
(mah·SHEE·akh)
”Anointed one"
God isn't obligated to finish something He never started.
3 Ways we outrun God and how to stay inside His time.
3. We bring God His answer, before He gives it
How do we know if we are bringing God our idols?
Three Tests
 1. Clean slate: Am I coming to God to hear Him, or to get His signature on my decision?
 2. Calling or need: A calling can be allowed to unfold. A need has to be forced. If I have to push, grasp, and control to make it happen, might be an idol.
 3. Ego check: My calling was never meant to meet the emotional needs of my ego. If so, I stop cooperating with God and start trying to manipulate Him.
Staying insides God's timing looks like:
• Be comfortable in the preparation season. It's not less spiritual. It's where you grow.
• Expect to be overlooked sometimes. Sometimes it's on purpose, to test the state of your ego.
• Check the convergence. Are calling, character, and competency coming together, or am I forcing one of them?
