DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
1) Welcome (or welcome back)! How was your summer? What is one way you experienced God's presence?
2) What do you want our group to look like this year? What should we add, change, keep the same? How can we root ourselves in Jesus and be more connected in community?
3) What has stood out to you from this series so far? What have you learned about the Anabaptist tradition, or the BIC denomination?
4) Read Joshua 4:1-7. - What stands out to you in this passage? - Why do you think God instructed them to build a monument out of ordinary stones rather than something more permanent or iconic? - What are the "stones of remembrance" in your own life or family—the stories or traditions that remind you of God's faithfulness?
5) The BIC tradition was formed by the merging of three theological streams: Anabaptism (obedience), Pietism (personal conversion), and Wesleyanism (holiness). - Which of these three streams do you naturally resonate with the most? Which one do you find most challenging to incorporate into your daily faith?
6) Read 2 Corinthians 3:2-3. The early "Tunkers" were recognized by their actions—they were nicknamed based on what their neighbours saw them do. - If our neighbours were to give us a nickname based solely on our actions, what do you think it would be?
7) Read Colossians 1:15-20. - What are some of the subtle things that can easily shift Jesus away from the centre of our lives or our church? How can we actively work to keep Him first, to Be In Christ?
