When Jesus Meets Us: Our Misunderstanding
He speaks to our skepticism and unravels it with the reality of who He is:

The intended contrast:
-Nicodemus a religious, civic leader vs Samaritan woman a foreign sinner = who will believe in Jesus?
-Nicodemus doesn’t confess Jesus Messiah vs Samaritan woman does /tells others = who is the disciple?
These two extremely different people share two things in common:
a misunderstanding about God
an opportunity to believe in Jesus

Jesus Speaks to Our Misunderstanding

“no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again (from above).”

Jesus replied,“You are a respected Jewish teacher, and yet you don’t understand these things?I assure you, we tell you what we know and have seen, and yet you won’t believe our testimony. But if you don’t believe me when I tell you about earthly things, how can you possibly believe if I tell you about heavenly things?

The core problem for humanity is not ignorance about God but unbelief/opposition to God.
Jesus replied,“You are a respected Jewish teacher, and yet you don’t understand these things?I assure you, we tell you what we know and have seen, and yet you won’t believe our testimony. But if you don’t believe me when I tell you about earthly things, how can you possibly believe if I tell you about heavenly things?

No one has ever gone to heaven and returned. But the Son of Manhas come down from heaven.And as Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,so that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life.
-Jesus fulfills Jacob’s vision of a ladder connecting heaven and earth/God and people
-Jesus fulfills Moses imagery of a bronze serpent lifted up to rescue and heal sinful people
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him."

Barrington's Feed My Starving Children Mobile Pack Event will be happening the weekend of November 6-7. Volunteer slots are available for unloading, setup, four different two-hour food packing shifts, or cleanup. Sign up to volunteer at fmsc.org. See Kim Nicols for more information.
