A Triad of Triads

There are patterns found in certain numbers, like the number 3.
• The Godhead is “3” in one.
• Jesus rose from the dead “3” days after He died.
• Peter denied Jesus “3” times.
• Following His resurrection, Jesus asked Peter if he loved Him “3” times.)

1st Triad: Peter’s Denial

2nd Triad: Some form of religious trial.
• From Annas to Caiaphas to the Sanhedrin.

3rd Trial: Civil trials (three Roman trials)
• Encounter with Pilate

Testify means to give evidence or proof, to publicly affirm in word and deed.

Some of the truths Jesus revealed:
• The kingdom of God: (see Matt. 4:23)
• How one can enter the kingdom of God: (see Matt. 4:17)
• Kingdom living in the Sermon on the Mount.
• Mysteries of the kingdom.

While John’s gospel makes it appear that after Jesus appeared before Annas, Caiaphus, and the Sanhedrin, He them appeared to Pilate. After that, He was taken away to be crucified. Based on the other gospel accounts, Jesus actually stood before Pilate twice and Herod once.
• Pilate talks with Jesus. He then sends Him to Herod. Jesus then returns before Pilate for a second time.

Pilate was a Prefect, an appointed Roman official, a governor.
• He was a Roman citizen.
• A prefect governed a specific province or governmental department such as the military.

Herod was what is called a tetrarch.
• Tetrarchs ruled over a territory that was divided into fourths.
• Herod’s territory included Galilee.
• Herod would have been considered a practicing Jew, although his heritage was not Hebrew.

While both titles had ruling authority, a tetrarch did not have the authority to execute an individual.

Followers of Christ must follow Him.
• Jesus referred to this as taking up our cross (see Luke 9:23).

Appearances to others in the Body of Christ (Religious Realm)
• There are certain ways we want other believers to view us as followers of Jesus.
• How other saints view you is not as important as to how God views you.

Appearances in the Civil Realm
• Social order deals with how people relate to and treat one another.

The Religious Realm and Civil Realm describe the Great Commandment.
• We do so within three jurisdictions: the Body of Christ, our families, and the civil realms.

• Henry Truer is dealing with multiple health issues, including cancer in several areas of his body. He is currently admitted to Trinity Hospital in Grand Rapids for a blood clot in his lung. He is also beginning immunotherapy and radiation. The trip to City of Hope Cancer Center has been put on hold.
• Emma Bither (granddaughter of John & Susan Seitz) is recovering at home from an appendectomy.
• Bruce Ferguson has healed from his procedure and will begin radiation for prostate cancer on 9/14.
• Alyssa Newell has been diagnosed with Lupus. She has an appointment in September to discuss a management plan; pray that the treatment options are successful.
• Joyce Bocock has a large hematoma in her thigh which is causing a significant amount of pain and making it difficult for her to walk.
• Marge Benham has a lump on her shoulder that has been found to be cancerous. She will have radiation and surgery this summer and the doctors are confident this is treatable and beatable.
• Dylan Goff's fiance, Taylor, who is recovering from a stroke and will probably have a procedure done to repair a hole in her heart within the next few weeks.
