God’s hand is not thwarted or slowed by evil, but rather directs it for our good and his glory.
Do you believe that God is able to bring beauty from ashes? Do you believe He will?
1. God’s plans are beyond our understanding.
We do not always know what God is doing, but we do know He is always doing something.
The goal of faith in God’s plan isn’t to understand what He’s doing, but to know He is working.
2. What men intend for evil, God intends for good.
Joni Eareckson Tada – “This paralysis is my greatest mercy.”
Jerry Bridges - “If God is not sovereign in the decisions and actions of other people as they affect us, then there is a whole major area of our lives where we cannot trust God; where we are left, so to speak, to fend for ourselves.”
God, for reasons beyond our understanding, will often allow men to act in ways contrary to His moral will in order to accomplish His Sovereign will.
Though God uses even evil people and circumstances to accomplish His will, there is not one of His people whom He will not ultimately deliver, and not one act of evil that will go unpunished.
3. We must trust God’s sovereignty and His goodness.
When approaching God with life’s hardest questions: assume you are wrong, not the Lord.
Everything you and I need to know to trust God in the face of evil has been spoken to us!
God’s hand is not thwarted or slowed by evil, but rather directs it for our good and his glory.
Habakkuk took his stand at the watchpost to see what the Lord would say regarding Israel’s salvation. We take our stand at the cross because the Lord has spoken Salvation!
Habakkuk stood at the watchpost to await an answer, we get to sit at the Lord’s Table and rest.
