· Peter Visits Cornelius (Acts 10:23b–29)
o Cornelius is anticipating that Peter has some very important things to tell him (and his family/friends).
o Cornelius pays homage/worships Peter, believing that he is some sort of a divine man.
o Peter rejects the worship and tells Cornelius that he is a mere mortal.
o There is no specific O.T. Law that forbids Jews from eating with Gentiles.
- “Separate yourself from gentiles, and do not eat with them, and do not perform deeds like theirs.” -Jubilees 22:16 (a 2nd century BC Jewish work).
o Peter points out that the vision was why he came without raising an objection.
- Acts 10:20

· Cornelius’ Recap (Acts 10:30–33)
o Now then, we are all here present before God to hear all that you have been commanded by the Lord.” -Acts 10:33b
- Could you imagine having this set up for a Gospel opportunity?
· Ripe fruit falls off the tree.
o Much of our evangelism is about persuasion, breaking down lofty ideas and thoughts that have been raised against God.
o Yet, sometimes we encounter someone who is ripe and at the point of being saved.

· Peter Evangelizes (Acts 10:34–43)
o No Partiality? Was this the first time Peter understood this?
- Moses said it (Lev. 19:15, Deut. 1:17).
- Solomon said it (Prov. 28:21).
- Paul said it (Rom. 2:11, Eph. 6:9).
- James said it (James 2:9).
o Peter presents the Gospel in a similar order to the Gospel of Luke.

· The Holy Spirit & Baptism (Acts 10:44–48)
o Why does the Holy Spirit fall on the Gentiles while Peter is mid-speech?
- See Acts 11:15-17
o The circumcised believers were the Jewish Christians who traveled with Peter from Joppa.
o They were amazed because it was undeniable that the believing Gentiles had received the Holy Spirit.
o Cornelius and his companions were already saved prior to baptism….meaning baptism doesn’t save.

Application:
· Be ready for the Harvest.
· Don’t show partiality.
· Expect God to use you in remarkable ways.
