Series: Seven Letters
Scripture: Revelation 3:1-6
The issue: a church can look _____________ on the ______________ but be spiritually ______________ on the _______________.
The church’s greatest danger wasn’t what was happening ___________ them. It was what was happening _____________ them.
We aren’t saved by our activity, but _______________ faith produces a __________________ life.
5 clear commands:
1. ________________________ (keep watching)
• The danger is that we can become __________________ if we get ______________.
2. _________________ what remains.
• God’s grace is still at work and gives us the _______________ to tap into it.
3. ________________ what you ________________ and heard.
• Conversion is a _________________, not a ______________ ___________.
4. ________________ __________________
• God’s grace doesn’t just provide _________________; it _____________ us.
5. ________________
• It isn’t something we do ______________ from grace; it’s one of the ways we _________________ to the grace that God is already ____________________ toward us.
The answer to spiritual deadness isn’t more ______________. It’s _________________ to a life that is ____________________ in Christ.

Start talking:
• If your life came with a “low battery” warning like your phone does, what would be the first sign that you were running spiritually low?
• What do you think is the difference between looking spiritually alive and actually being spiritually alive?
Start Thinking:
• Jesus told the church in Sardis, “You have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.” What do you think led them to become spiritually complacent?
• Why can outward religious activity sometimes give us a false sense of spiritual health?
• Pastor Troy said, “Conversion isn’t a finish line; it’s a beginning.” What does that look like practically in your life?
• Which of the commands to Sardis—wake up, strengthen what remains, remember, hold fast, or repent—do you think is most important for a person who has become spiritually apathetic? Why?
Start Sharing:
• Have you ever experienced a season when your faith was more about going through the motions than having a vibrant relationship with Christ? What contributed to that?
• What are some signs that might indicate someone is becoming spiritually complacent?
• What does it mean for your life to “live the gospel message” rather than simply believe the gospel message?
Start Praying:
• Ask God to reveal where you need to wake you up spiritually right now.
• Is there something in your relationship with Christ that has become routine or passive that you need to surrender to Him?
Start Doing:
• Take 15 minutes each day to intentionally reconnect with Jesus. As you spend time in Scripture and prayer, ask: “Jesus, show me where I have become spiritually complacent, and show me what You want me to strengthen.”
Then take a concrete step forward. Don’t simply try to do more. The goal is to abide more deeply in Christ.
• Who is someone you can invite to help you stay spiritually awake and accountable?
Remember: You don’t graduate from discipleship. As long as we have breath, God is still calling us deeper into the life of Christ.
