A PERSON WE NEED TO INTRODUCE
V.1 "JAMES a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ."
Quick Personal Profile
> James was the half-brother of Jesus – (Matt. 13:55/Mark 6:3)
> James was not initially a disciple – (John 7:5)
> Jame’s life was transformed when Jesus appeared to him personally following the resurrection – (1 Cor. 15:7)
> James was known for his devotion, wisdom & godliness
> James became the most influential leader and head of the church in Jerusalem –
•Peter reports to James after his miraculous escape from prison (Acts 12:17).
•Paul meets specifically with James in Jerusalem (Galatians 1:19).
•James presides over the Council of Jerusalem (Acts 15).
• Paul later reports his missionary work to James (Acts 21:18).
A PROBLEM THAT WE ALL FACE
V.2 "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds…"
Tests are SURE
“Count it all joy, my brothers,WHEN you meet trials of various kinds…”.

Tests are SUDDEN

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you MEET trials of various kinds…”.

Tests are SORTED

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of VARIOUS KINDS…”

A PURPOSE THAT WE MUST EMBRACE
V.3 “For you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing”.

Joy isn’t pretending life is easy…it’s believing that God is good

"Count"
Faith that never effects your life, has probably never changed your heart

Knowing – (gk Ginosko) an awareness of something that is beyond the merely factual
