The Gospel builds the church
When the good news is shared, and accepted, it brings people into community. First, with God, and second with others who come to him. This creates the environement necessary for renewal. When God's people respond to him in obedience (and one another in love), then we are restored to the flourishing life God always intended.

The Gospel brings restoration
The problem with sin is not that God finds it distasteful (though he does). The primary problem is that it drives a wedge between Creator and creation. In order for that relationship to be restored, the hurt and brokenness must be fixed. Christ is the way to that restoration.
