Thyatira
Series: Seven Letters
Scripture: Revelation 2:18-29

What should I ____________________?

The only way for the church to truly ____________ God’s holy calling is to ______________ in Him, to ____________ in Him.
• John 15:9-12

None of us ever ______________ the need to keep _______________.

Jezebel - likely used as a ______________ of ______________ she does to this church.
• She actively ________________ others to ____________.
• God _______________ gives her and her followers _______________ to _______________.
•. God’s _________________ isn’t ___________________.

Our response to sin: __________ tolerating it…._________________/turn back and ________________ in Christ.

What am I ________________ ________ _________?
• Jesus’ instructions: hold on to _________ we ___________ in Him.
• Keep holding on until the “_____________ ____________” occurs.
• Titus 2:11-13
• In and with Christ there is still the ____________ to ___________________.
Start talking:
• What is something you've become less tolerant of as you've gotten older? (Keep it light!)
• Have you ever had to make a difficult choice because following Jesus conflicted with what everyone else was doing?
• When you hear the word “tolerance,” what comes to mind?

Start Thinking:
• Jesus praised the church in Thyatira for its love, faith, service, and perseverance, but confronted them for tolerating false teaching. Why do you think it can be easier to overlook compromise than to confront it?
• Pastor Troy asked two questions, which challenged you the most? Why?
• Read Revelation 2:18-29. What stands out to you about Jesus’ character in this letter? What surprises you?

Start Sharing:
• Are there areas in your own life where you’ve slowly become comfortable with attitudes, habits, or compromises that Jesus may be calling you to address?
• Jesus gave “Jezebel” time to repent before judgment. What does that teach us about God’s patience toward us and toward people we’re praying for?
• Pastor Troy emphasized that love and truth must go together. Why is it difficult to hold firmly to biblical truth while also demonstrating genuine love and grace?
• What are some practical ways we “hold on” to Christ in everyday life?
• Which of the “means of grace” (Scripture, prayer, worship, Communion, gathering with believers) has helped you stay close to Jesus? Which one do you need to strengthen?

Start Praying:
• Ask God to reveal any area of compromise that you’ve begun to tolerate.
• Pray for courage to lovingly speak truth when necessary while reflecting Christ’s grace.
• Thank Jesus for His patience and ask Him to help you remain faithful as you hold tightly to Him.

Start Doing:
• This week, intentionally reflect on the two questions Jesus asks through His letter to Thyatira: What am I tolerating? What am I holding onto?
• Each day, spend time in prayer asking the Holy Spirit to reveal any area where you’ve grown comfortable with compromise. If He brings something to mind, don’t ignore it—confess it, repent, and receive His grace.
• Intentionally hold onto Christ by practicing one of the means of grace every day this week. Let your focus shift from merely avoiding compromise to actively abiding in Christ.
