Did Jesus expect us to be perfect? What does Jesus mean? There are a number of Bible truths:
1. God is the standard of perfection
2. No human is naturally perfect
3. The marvellous truth of the Gospel is that Jesus has met this standard on our behalf.
4. Perfection will be complete when Christ returns
The word used for perfect is Telios = complete, whole & mature.
If we work FROM GOD - He is the standard -> TO ME - there is a pursuit in being a disciple-> TO US which requires the church to demonstrate Christ’s love in unity for all-> we will see not an ideal church but God’s perfect character -> perfecting His children -> to be a perfected church.
