Sermon Title: Communion

Key Passage: "Some of you hurry to eat your own meal without
sharing with others... What? Don't you have your own homes for
eating and drinking? Or do you really want to disgrace God's church and shame the poor?" vs. 21-22, NLT

Application:
● Ask,"Am I seeking my own comfort or the good of others?"
● Healthy churches are marked by sacrifice, not self-centeredness.
● Christian maturity is measured by how willingly we place others ahead of ourselves.

Big Idea: The cross teaches us that following Jesus means preferring others over ourselves.

Key Passage: "This is my body, which is given for you... Do this in remembrance of me." vs. 24-25

Application:
● Never let religious practices become routine.
● Keep Christ's sacrifice at the center of worship.
● Gratitude should replace entitlement.

Big Idea: We remember Christ's sacrifice so our lives become
centered on Him instead of ourselves.

Key Passage: "That is why you should examine yourself before eating the bread and drinking the cup." v. 28

"Examining yourself" is not a call to achieve sinless perfection before taking Communion. Rather, it is an invitation to honestly evaluate whether one's life.

Self-examination includes questions like:
● Am I trusting in Christ alone?
● Am I harboring unrepentant sin?
● Am I living in love toward my brothers and sisters?
● Does my life reflect the gospel I proclaim?

Application:
● Come to Communion humbly, not casually.
● Confess sin quickly.
● Pursue reconciliation with fellow believers whenever possible.

Big Idea: The Lord's Table invites honest repentance and renewed devotion to Christ.
