Why Are We Here?
Jesus didn't just save us from something. He saved us for something.
We are people helping people live out their purpose in Jesus Christ.
Acts 1:8
(Jesus) “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
In one verse, Jesus shows us who we are, why we're here, and how we do it.
1. Who We Are — A People
“You will be MY witnesses”
The church is a people on mission together.
We are sitting in the result of somebody else's yes.
Found people find people.
Helped people help people.
Changed people help change people.
2. Why We're Here — A Purpose
“Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the ends of the earth”
The Gospel was never supposed to stay where it started.
Jerusalem wasn't the destination. It was the starting point.
Where is God giving us an opportunity to help more people live out their purpose in Jesus Christ?
Our purpose is helping other people discover theirs.
3. How We Do It — A Power
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you”
What God calls us to, his Spirit empowers us for.
If our vision can be accomplished without God, our vision isn't big enough.
People are the mission. Jesus is the answer. Our response is yes.
I'm ALL IN for the One who went ALL IN for me.
Total surrender for the One who surrendered all for me.
