The Text in Context
1. Good Soil
- Mt. 13:3-8
2. Faithfulness
- Abraham's story & origin stories
3. Gentleness
- You become like those you spend time with
4. Self-control
- Problematic?
5. In step with the Spirit
- v25
1. Combining concepts from Galatians 5:22,23 and Matthew 13:3-9, 23, how might you interpret the relationship between the concepts of the seed, good soil, and the fruit of the Spirit?
2. If faithfulness is rooted in faith, then in what ways might faith show itself through faithfulness throughout a person’s life? Who do you know who exemplifies faithfulness? How?
3. How does the New Testament’s consistent pairing of gentleness with humility, patience, and wisdom deepen your understanding of what gentleness looks like? How might these qualities work together in everyday life? Who do you know who exemplifies gentleness? How?
4. Self-control (and all of the Fruit of the Spirit) could be likened to disciplined professional dancers and the exacting art of choreography. If we desire healthy Christian spiritauality, why are so many of us discipline avoidant? Is it realistic to expect a vital spirituality, if one isn’t disciplined? In what ways can we "stay in step with the Spirit"? How might this discussion be applicable to our Christian faith? Who do you know exemplifies the discipline of self-control? How?

Baseball Bookclub starts up Wednesday, August 5th! This is a time to gather, discuss a book about baseball, and get to know people in StoneBridge. Led by Pastor Jon and Reverend Ryan, this is a time for anyone who enjoys to read and talk about books. This year, we'll be reading The Summer Game by Roger Angell, a book widely appreciated as the best baseball book written.

Join us on Saturday, August 8th for Kickball Cookout. Following the 5:30 worship service, enjoy a friendly game of kickball and a (free) hot dog dinner! Rather not play? You're welcome to stay for dinner and cheer on the participants!
