It is easy to hear God when you are in His presence.
Here is a guide to help you encounter God daily!

Meditation Overview:
You connect with God through meditation. Meditation is intentionally focusing and directing your thoughts on God. You connect with God by saturating yourself in His presence and meditating on His Word. Scripture is your meeting place.
Through meditation, you are able to slow down to hear what the Holy Spirit wants to show you as you read, contemplate, reflect and apply Scripture to your life. To meditate is to lean into the fact that every word in Scripture is God-breathed. When you slow down to read, you are preparing yourself to catch every word God is speaking. You see the Bible as not something to just learn from, but you allow it to transform you. It is through meditation that the Word of God renews your mind and your thoughts.
What you behold is who you become, so when you behold Jesus in Scripture and meditate on Him and His words, you are allowing them to renew your thoughts to be like His. When you do this, you feel the closest to God because you are uniting with Him in all things. He reveals Himself to you when you look at Him, then you are able to see yourself the way He sees you.

Some Encouragement For Meditation:
Give yourself freedom to pause when you are reading Scripture. It is not about how much you read, but how God is speaking to you. One verse has unlimited revelation that He wants to reveal to you.
In Ezekiel 3, Ezekiel is commanded to eat the scroll. Likewise, when you are meditating on God’s word, you are eating His words to fill your belly, digest it, and allow it to transform you. Meditation is like eating healthy. Your mind gets renewed as you reflect on Scripture, but eating one healthy meal doesn’t make you healthy unless you continue to make it a practice.
Keep returning to God and His Word, continue to take every thought captive and align it with Christ. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you make your thoughts like His.
- Biblical meditation fills your mind with truth rather than emptying it.
- You don't have to rush through Scripture; sometimes one verse is enough for the Holy Spirit to transform your day.
- The goal is not to finish a reading plan—the goal is to let God's Word shape your life.
- Meditation helps move God's truth from information to transformation.
- The more you dwell on God's Word, the more naturally it shapes your thoughts, attitudes, and decisions.
- God's Word becomes most powerful when we carry it with us throughout the day.
- Meditation helps us hear God's voice more clearly because our hearts remain focused on His truth.
- A mind continually fixed on God's Word becomes a heart continually aware of His presence.
- Lasting spiritual growth often happens through slow, intentional reflection rather than hurried reading.

Connect With God Through Meditation

(1) Connect With God Through Meditation
Here are some practical ways that you can connect with God.
Read Slowly:
Instead of reading several chapters quickly, choose a short passage or even a single verse.
Read it several times, allowing the words to settle into your heart.
Reflect on One Verse:
Ask questions like:
- What does this teach me about God?
- What does this reveal about His character?
- Is there a promise to believe?
- Is there a command to obey?
- How should this change my life today?
Memorize Scripture:
Choose one verse each week. Repeat it throughout your day until it becomes part of your heart and mind.
Pray Through Scripture:
Turn the passage into a conversation with God. Personalize what you're reading.
Pause Between Verses:
Don't rush. Allow moments of silence for the Holy Spirit to impress His truth upon your heart.
Think About God's Character:
Spend time reflecting on one attribute of God.
For example:
- His faithfulness
- His holiness
- His mercy
- His patience
- His goodness
- Allow your meditation to become worship.
Carry a Verse with You:
Write a Scripture on a note card or save it on your phone. Read it throughout the day and ask God to continue speaking through it.
Journal Your Thoughts:
Write what God is teaching you. Record questions, observations, applications, and prayers.
Meditate During Everyday Moments:
While walking...
Driving...
Doing chores...
Waiting in line...
Bring God's Word back to your mind and continue reflecting on it.
End the Day Reflecting:
Before bed, revisit the verse you meditated on.
Ask, "Lord, what have You been teaching me today?"
Replace Worry with God's Word:
Whenever anxious thoughts arise, intentionally replace them with a promise from Scripture. Allow God's truth to redirect your thinking.
Repeat Scripture Aloud:
Speaking God's Word helps move it from your head to your heart.
Declare His promises with faith and confidence.

(3) The Lord's Prayer
A starting guide when praying to God every day!
"Pray then like this: 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."
Matthew 6:9-13
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name...
Begin praying by declaring,
“Father, you are HOLY!”
Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in
heaven...
Pray for God's perfect will to be done in your life.
"God, not my will, but yours!"
Give us this day our daily bread...
Tell God what it is that you need. He is our Provider!
And forgive us our debts...
Repent. Lay down your sins before God and ask for forgiveness.
As we also have forgiven our debtors...
List by name those you need to forgive and ask God for help!
And lead us not into temptation...
Grace is a gift we all have access to. Open the gift and accept God's grace to overcome sin.
But deliver us from evil...
Declare, "No spirit but the Holy Spirit" is welcome in your life!

(8) Close in Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of Your Word. Thank You that every page of Scripture reveals Your heart, Your character, and Your desire to know me. Teach me not to rush through Your Word, but to slow down, reflect, and allow Your truth to take deep root in my life.
Help me to meditate on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and worthy of praise. Renew my mind by the power of Your Word, and guard my heart from the distractions and voices that pull my attention away from You. May Your truth become the foundation of my thoughts, my decisions, and my daily walk with You.
Give me spiritual eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart of understanding. Speak, Lord, Your servant is listening. As I meditate on Scripture, illuminate Your truth through the Holy Spirit. Reveal more of Your character, strengthen my faith, and help me apply what You are teaching me with humility and obedience.
Lord, let Your Word dwell richly within me until it shapes the way I think, the way I speak, and the way I live. May I carry Your truth with me throughout each day, finding peace in Your promises, wisdom in Your counsel, and joy in Your presence.
Thank You for transforming me through Your Word. May my mind be continually renewed, my heart continually surrendered, and my life continually reflect the likeness of Jesus.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.

A Wellspring Thought:
Meditation is more than thinking about God... It is allowing His Word to take root in your heart.
As we slow down, linger over Scripture, and listen to the Holy Spirit, God's truth begins to shape our thoughts, transform our character, and deepen our awareness of His presence. A heart that regularly meditates on God's Word is a heart that becomes more like Jesus.
