We engage the Lord through daily personal encounters by welcoming the Holy Spirit, asking the Lord to speak to us, praying the Lord's Prayer and listening for His response.

It is easy to hear God when you are in His presence.

Here is a guide to help you encounter God daily!

Learning Overview:

You connect with God through learning. You place a high value on loving God with your mind. You are not content with trite answers or shallow responses, but rather you seek the depth of knowledge of God in every situation. You have a lot of questions, and these questions drive you to learn and ask God for insight until you feel a resolve within yourself.

You need to understand not only what you believe, but why you believe it. You know that the truth sets people free, therefore you value knowing and sharing the truths of God so people can experience that freedom. You feel the closest to Him when He gives you revelation on His word and His nature.

Revelation is God giving you access to see something you didn’t see before. When you pray, you speak to God and when you study, God speaks to you. Through learning, you enter into God’s presence and you feel the closest to Him when He shares His revelation with you. Your prayer is, “God, teach me Your ways so that I may know You!”

Some Encouragement For Learning:

Lean into your daily encounters to know God and not just know about Him. When He teaches you and gives you understanding, He is giving you access to Himself. As you are learning, ask God to show you things in a
different way and receive His revelation about who He is and who you are.

When God is teaching you, follow His leading. Don’t limit yourself to the Bible plan you are reading. If God is speaking to you, allow yourself to take extra time on a single word, phrase or portion of Scripture. Part
of connecting with God through learning is allowing space to go down the rabbit-trails He is leading you into through Scripture—there is revelation waiting for you as you follow His lead. The Holy Spirit is the best teacher, and He wants to reveal new things to you each time you sit down to listen.

- God's Word was given to transform your life, not simply inform your mind.

- Every time you open the Bible, expect God to speak.

- Spiritual maturity is measured by obedience, not just knowledge.

- Don't be discouraged by what you don't understand. Keep seeking, asking, and trusting the Holy Spirit to lead you.

- Learning is a lifelong journey. There is always more to discover about God's character.

- Small, consistent moments in God's Word produce lasting spiritual growth.

- Curiosity, humility, and teachability are marks of a growing disciple.
God delights in revealing Himself to those who diligently seek Him.

- The goal of learning is not to know more about Jesus—it is to know Jesus more.

(1) Connect With God Through Learning

Here are some practical ways that you can connect with God.



Study the Bible Intentionally:
Rather than simply reading a passage, slow down and ask:

- What does this passage teach me about God?
- What does it reveal about His character?
- What is God saying to me?
- How can I apply this today?

Read Through a Book of the Bible:
Instead of jumping from passage to passage, spend time reading one book from beginning to end.

Observe the overall message before focusing on individual verses.

Keep a Study Journal:
Write down:
- Key verses
- Questions
- New discoveries
- Applications
- Prayers
- Ways God is speaking to you

Review your notes regularly to see how God has been growing you.

Use Trusted Study Resources:
Deepen your understanding through Bible dictionaries, concordances, commentaries, Greek and Hebrew word studies, maps, and historical background resources.

Always allow Scripture to remain your highest authority.

Memorize Scripture:
Hide God's Word in your heart. Choose one verse each week and meditate on it throughout the day.

Listen to Biblical Teaching:
Listen to sermons, Bible studies, podcasts, or teachings from trusted, biblically grounded leaders.

Approach every teaching with a heart that asks,
"What is God teaching me?"

Ask Questions:
Don't be afraid to wrestle with difficult passages. Questions often become the doorway to deeper understanding.

Learn with Others:
Join a Bible study, discipleship group, or class where you can discuss Scripture and grow together.

Iron sharpens iron.

Practice What You Learn:
Knowledge becomes wisdom when it is lived out.
After every study, ask: "What is one thing I can obey today?"

Read Christian Books:
Choose books that deepen your understanding of Scripture, theology, spiritual formation, or Christian living.

Allow faithful teachers to strengthen your walk with Christ.

Learn Through Life:
Ask God daily, "What are You teaching me through this situation?"

God often uses both victories and trials to shape us.

Teach Someone Else:
One of the best ways to grow is to share what you've learned. Disciples make disciples.

"Pray then like this: 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil."
Matthew 6:9-13

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name...

Begin praying by declaring,
“Father, you are HOLY!”

Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in
heaven...

Pray for God's perfect will to be done in your life.
"God, not my will, but yours!"

Give us this day our daily bread...
Tell God what it is that you need. He is our Provider!

And forgive us our debts...
Repent. Lay down your sins before God and ask for forgiveness.

As we also have forgiven our debtors...
List by name those you need to forgive and ask God for help!

And lead us not into temptation...
Grace is a gift we all have access to. Open the gift and accept God's grace to overcome sin.

But deliver us from evil...
Declare, "No spirit but the Holy Spirit" is welcome in your life!

(6) Give God Room to Speak to You

"Speak Lord, Your servant is listening!"

(7) Ask Him to Teach You His Ways

Exodus 33:13b says, “If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you.”

After He speaks to you, ask Him to teach you.

(1) Repeat what you heard God say out loud.
(2) Write down what He says and obey Him.

This is a way we steward God’s words!

(8) Close in Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for inviting me into a deeper relationship with You through the discipline of fasting. Teach me to hunger for Your presence more than anything this world can offer. As I willingly set aside temporary comforts, remind me that You alone are the One who truly satisfies my soul.

Help me to fast with the right motives—not to earn Your favor or impress others, but to seek You with my whole heart. Let every moment of physical hunger become a reminder of my need for You. Strengthen me when I feel weak, keep my heart focused on You, and draw me closer to Your presence each day.

Give me spiritual eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart of understanding. Speak, Lord, Your servant is listening. As I seek You, reveal areas of my life that need to change. Align my desires with Yours, increase my dependence upon the Holy Spirit, and teach me to walk in greater obedience to Your Word.

Lord, may this fast produce more than self-discipline—may it produce intimacy with You. Let my heart become more sensitive to Your voice, my faith grow stronger, and my love for You deepen. May I leave this season more surrendered, more aware of Your presence, and more committed to living out Your purpose.

Thank You for being the Bread of Life who satisfies every longing of my soul. My greatest desire is not simply to experience a breakthrough, but to know You more.
