Creation Overview:

You connect with God best when you are in His creation. You feel there is no better place for you to meet with God than in the sanctuary that He has created Himself: nature.

You love to be outside. It is in nature that you most easily connect with God’s presence, hear His voice, and are moved to worship by the observation of His majesty.

You connect with the greatness of God; His grandeur and the expanse of His being as you are immersed in creation. It draws you close and brings biblical concepts to life in a way that cultivates revelation and helps you receive truth.

You feel that the sense of awe and peace experienced in nature cannot be replicated in any other setting. Your relationship with God grows in His creation because you see Him in what He has created - whether that is in the fields, mountains, or in people.

Both an orchestra of the earth and perfect silence await you as you connect with God in creation. God may speak to you about His love and character by using nature imagery. For example, “My love for you is greater than the expanse of the ocean” or “I can move the greatest mountain with a word” or “I spoke and everything you see came into existence.”

Some Encouragement For Creation:

Connect with God through creation, but don’t let your connection with God be only about an external atmosphere. Instead, posture your heart to encounter God daily. When you prepare your heart and mind to encounter the Holy Spirit and hear His voice, you will be able to encounter Him whether you are in nature or not! Be intentional to find the beauty in what is in front of you.

(1) Connect With God Through Creation

Here are some practical ways that you can connect with God.

Take a Prayer Walk Outdoors:
Walk through your neighborhood, a park, the woods, or along the beach. As you walk, thank God for His creation and allow it to draw your heart into worship.

Watch a Sunrise or Sunset:
Spend time watching the beginning or end of the day without distractions.
Allow the beauty before you to remind you of God's faithfulness and the gift of another day.

Sit in Stillness:
Find a quiet place outside and simply observe.
Listen to the birds.
Feel the breeze.
Notice the colors around you.
Instead of rushing, let creation lead you into gratitude and awe.

Read Scripture Outside:
Take your Bible onto your porch, into your backyard, or to a nearby park.
As you read, notice how often Scripture points to God's creation.

Look Up at the Night Sky:
Spend a few moments gazing at the stars. Remember the God who created every galaxy also knows you by name and holds your life in His hands.

Thank God for the Seasons:
Each season reveals something about God's faithfulness. Reflect on how spring, summer, autumn, and winter remind us that God is always at work, even when we cannot see it.

Observe God's Creativity:
Notice the incredible diversity of creation.
Every flower.
Every tree.
Every bird.
Every person.
Each one reflects the creativity of our Creator.

Put Away Your Phone:
Instead of capturing every moment with a picture, simply enjoy what God has made. Be fully present.

Keep a Creation Journal:
Write down what you notice about God through His creation.
Ask yourself: "What does this reveal about God's character?"

Worship Outdoors:
Listen to worship music, sing, or simply praise God while surrounded by His creation. Let creation become the backdrop for your worship.

Care for God's Creation:
Plant a garden.
Take care of your yard.
Pick up litter.
Be a faithful steward of what God has entrusted to us. Stewardship is another way we honor the Creator.

Pause Throughout the Day:

Notice ordinary moments:
The warmth of the sun.
The sound of rain.
A rainbow.
A gentle breeze.
Allow these simple gifts to remind you that God is present and faithful.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name...

Begin praying by declaring,
“Father, you are HOLY!”

Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in
heaven...

Pray for God's perfect will to be done in your life.
"God, not my will, but yours!"

Give us this day our daily bread...
Tell God what it is that you need. He is our Provider!

And forgive us our debts...
Repent. Lay down your sins before God and ask for forgiveness.

As we also have forgiven our debtors...
List by name those you need to forgive and ask God for help!

And lead us not into temptation...
Grace is a gift we all have access to. Open the gift and accept God's grace to overcome sin.

But deliver us from evil...
Declare, "No spirit but the Holy Spirit" is welcome in your life!

Exodus 33:13b says, “If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you.”

After He speaks to you, ask Him to teach you.

(1) Repeat what you heard God say out loud.
(2) Write down what He says and obey Him.

This is a way we steward God’s words!

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for revealing Your glory through the beauty of creation. Every sunrise, every tree, every bird, every ocean wave, and every star in the sky reminds me that You are the Creator of all things. Your power, wisdom, creativity, and faithfulness are displayed all around me, leaving me without doubt that You are worthy of all praise.

Teach me to slow down and notice the beauty You have placed around me each day. Help me not to become so busy that I overlook the reminders of Your presence found throughout Your creation. May the world around me continually point my heart back to You.

Give me spiritual eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart of understanding. Speak, Lord, Your servant is listening. As I spend time in the beauty of what You have made, reveal more of who You are. Let creation awaken wonder in my heart, deepen my faith, and draw me into a greater awareness of Your presence.

Lord, remind me that the same hands that formed the mountains and stretched out the heavens are the hands that hold my life. Fill me with confidence in Your care, gratitude for Your goodness, and a desire to honor You with everything I am.

May I never worship the gift more than the Giver. Instead, let every beautiful thing I encounter become another reason to praise You, trust You, and live for Your glory.
