Adoration Overview:

You connect with God through adoration. You feel closest to God when you are ministering to His heart through worship. When you worship, you forget others are in the room because your attention and affection is focused on the King. Sounds, rhythms, cadence, and songs usher you into a deeper place. You can sing a lyric, but you digest the lyrics by meditating and focusing on the One whom your soul loves. This leads you to see more aspects of God and grow in intimacy with Him. You encounter Him the most when you worship because this is what He has created you for. You worship God with your voice and instruments, but you also worship Him by stopping throughout the day to tell Him how much you love Him. You connect with God through adoration by keeping your heart bent towards the Holy Spirit and keeping your ears available to hear what He is speaking to you. In Exodus 32, the Levites were one of the 12 Tribes of Israel. They were set apart by their loyalty and zeal for the Lord. When the rest of Israel bowed to an idol, the Levites stood firm to only worship the one true living God. Because they were set apart, they were tasked with the responsibility of the Tabernacle and to usher in God’s tangible presence through worship. Like the Levites, you minister to the Lord through music and focus on welcoming His Presence in every environment you are in. Looking at Jesus is the easiest way into the Throne Room. Worship is how you enter into His Presence. To worship Him is to live, so worship in Spirit and in Truth, in music and in action, in sorrow and in joy.

Some Encouragement For Adoration:

In your worship, put your focus and adoration to the Lord instead of toward what is grabbing your attention. When you worship Him, you are magnifying the Lord over everything in your life. Some think worship is a response to a feeling, but worship is a response to who He is. Don’t hold back your worship based on what you are feeling. Worship the Lord at all times! The reason you can bless the Lord at all times is because He is worthy of worship at all times. You can give to Him before you receive. He is a rewarder of those who seek after Him (Hebrews 11:6). Find the way to give adoration to Him in the season you are in. Worship is a heart posture. Whether you can sing or you’re not musically inclined, you don’t need to perform. Your adoration moves God’s heart, no matter what you sound like.

- Adoration reminds us that God is worthy, even when life is difficult.

- Worship is not a response to our circumstances... It is a response to God's unchanging character.

- The more clearly we see God, the more confidently we trust Him.

- Adoration often prepares our hearts to hear God's voice.

- You don't need perfect words. God delights in sincere worship.

- Don't rush into requests. Sometimes the greatest gift is simply enjoying God's presence.

- Adoration shifts the focus from ourselves to the One who is worthy of all glory.

- The more we behold His beauty, the more we become like Him.

(1) Connect With God In Adoration

Here are some practical ways that you can connect with God.

Worship Through Creation
Sit outside and admire God's handiwork. Allow creation to remind you of His greatness. "The heavens declare the glory of God."

Sing to the Lord
Whether you have a great voice or not, sing. Scripture repeatedly calls God's people to sing a new song to Him.

Kneel Before Him
Sometimes our posture reflects the posture of our hearts. Kneeling, lifting your hands, or bowing your head can be outward expressions of inward worship.

Slow Down on One Characteristic
Instead of rushing through many attributes, spend several minutes thinking deeply about just one.

Example: "God, You are faithful."
Reflect on how you've experienced His faithfulness throughout your life.

Memorize Worship Scriptures
Hide verses of praise in your heart so they naturally become part of your prayer life.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name...

Begin praying by declaring,
“Father, you are HOLY!”

Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in
heaven...

Pray for God's perfect will to be done in your life.
"God, not my will, but yours!"

Give us this day our daily bread...
Tell God what it is that you need. He is our Provider!

And forgive us our debts...
Repent. Lay down your sins before God and ask for forgiveness.

As we also have forgiven our debtors...
List by name those you need to forgive and ask God for help!

And lead us not into temptation...
Grace is a gift we all have access to. Open the gift and accept God's grace to overcome sin.

But deliver us from evil...
Declare, "No spirit but the Holy Spirit" is welcome in your life!

(6) Give God Room to Speak to You

"Speak Lord, Your servant is listening!"

(7) Ask Him to Teach You His Ways

Exodus 33:13b says, “If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you.”

After He speaks to you, ask Him to teach you.

(1) Repeat what you heard God say out loud.
(2) Write down what He says and obey Him.

This is a way we steward God’s words!

Heavenly Father,
Today, I choose to lift my eyes from my circumstances and fix them on You. You alone are worthy of all honor, glory, and praise. Before I ask for anything, I simply want to adore You for who You are. You are holy, faithful, righteous, merciful, loving, and true. You are my Creator, my Savior, my Shepherd, my Provider, and my King.

Lord, let worship become more than a song I sing.. let it become the posture of my heart. Teach me to delight in Your presence and to treasure You above every blessing You have given me. May my greatest desire always be to know You more and to love You more deeply.

Give me spiritual eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart of understanding. Speak, Lord, Your servant is listening.

As I worship You, reveal more of Your character to me. Fill my heart with awe and wonder, and remind me that You are always worthy of my praise, regardless of my circumstances.

May my life bring You glory... not only through my words, but through my thoughts, my attitudes, my choices, and my actions. Let every day become an act of worship as I surrender my heart to You and seek to honor You in all that I do.

Thank You for inviting me into Your presence. May my heart never grow familiar with Your greatness, but always remain captivated by Your goodness, humbled by Your holiness, and filled with joy because You are my God.
